When Renton was boxed in a flat for de-tox, we had narration and a zippy soundtrack to keep us company, but here, Boyle plans to give the film the silent treatment in the first 60. I've got no concerns as to if Boyle will succeed in the visual treatment of the story, but it'll be interesting how he approaches the whole man vs. nature and life vs. death aspects via a James Franco who'll have to express his inner thoughts beyond grimaces.
