Compared with last year, Fortissmo Films come packing with only a single title, but that doesn't mean their sales agent won't be spending pretty much the entire festival from their rented office balcony. They signed a fairly ambitious deal with Fox - first time I've heard of a major studio outputting their titles to a films sales company of this nature and they've got one receiving a world preem at the festival in Sergei Loznitsa's My Joy.

Part of the fun of the whole film festival experience is discovering new talents, both in front and behind of the camera. Since I'm an avid fan of the top ten list format, I thought I'd go at this again. Cannes gave us two break-thru perfs in acting from A Prophet's Tahar Rahim and Fish Tank's Katie Jarvis (both were mentioned once again in IndieWIRE's TIFF poll), I featured the both of them in this apres Cannes' piece.

I've come up with a magical number of 30 films that I'll be covering for the fest (you might have noticed the TIFF Picks countdown over the past couple of weeks), when in fact that, the number of films I hope to catch a whopping 44!

They haven't got many world preems, today's press release only mentions Michael Hoffman's The Last Station, but that could all change – as the festival has some surprises in store for patrons (this would be a good time to bring out All Good Things into the Oscar mix) and everyone is expecting Jason Reitman to show up. We are checking his twitter status.

Following my top ten TIFF list of titles available piece that I published a couples of hours back, TIFF released the lengthy list of titles that are looking for deals. Among those that I didn't mention in my top ten but could have easily have been there is the omission of Micmacs à tire-larigot
