Video Interview: Alexandre Dostie – I’ll End Up in Jail (Short Film) – 2020 Sundance Film Festival

Published on

An award-winning film that began it’s festival life at TIFF in 2019, and would hit Park City and prestigious Clermont-Ferrand early 2020, Quebecois filmmaker Alexandre Dostie follows up his baseball diamond coming-of-ager Mutants with the equally darkly comedic true break free exploration of self in I’ll End Up in Jail. A filmmaker with flare who loves to explore small town characters who squirm and struggle out of impossible moral conflicts, I sat down with Dostie during Sundance to discuss his support for short form (he owns a distribution co. Travelling Distribution specializing in shorts) and how he utilizes his visual took box to his advantage and the enigmatic character he created in Maureen (Martine Francke). Dostie will next be embarking on his feature debut titled, Shape.
