For over two decades, Rodrigo Teixeira has been a cornerstone of international auteur cinema, building a reputation as a producer with a discerning eye for literary adaptations and directorial vision. His filmography is a testament to his transatlantic reach, championing both seminal Brazilian works—such as his recent backing of Walter Salles’ Oscar-winning I’m Still Here—and landmark films from global masters like James Gray, Robert Eggers (The Witch, The Lighthouse), and Luca Guadagnino (Call Me by Your Name), with more recent collaborations including Radu Jude. His tastebud also extends to filmmakers we’ve featured here in the likes of Marco Dutra, Gabriela Amaral Almeida and Antoneta Alamat Kusijanovic.
At this year’s Doha Film Festival, I had the privilege of speaking with the São Paulo-based founder of RT Features about his philosophy for mounting complex projects. Our conversation traversed detailed some case studies and we looked ahead to an exciting 2026 slate, a testament of his impeccable taste. This includes Gabe Klinger’s Isabel, Gray’s Paper Tiger, the alluring sounding debut Wolves from Rami Kodeih, Benjamín Naishtat’s Glaxo, Dominga Sotomayor’s La Perra, and Michelle Garza Cervera’s Ornamento, which may enter production next year.
