A24 Films Snuggle up to Garfield: Mitchell’s “Under the Silver Lake” Receives Early Support

Kudos to the A24 folks for projecting themselves into the future. The old practise of dropping coin on films before they begin lensing and for fostering relationships with reliable auteur talents (Shults, Ponsoldt) on the long term is a rare sight (see the Lanthimos pick-up) among current indie distributors. Deadline reports that David Robert Mitchell‘s soon to be shot Under the Silver Lake (set to star Andrew Garfield) was picked up by the distributor. Filming will begin this summer. Look for further casting announcements to be made soon.

Gist: Written by Mitchell, we don’t have much to go on expect that this will continue in a long standing tradition of having Los Angeles be the backdrop to criminality.

Worth Noting: Actor Andrew Garfield was born in Los Angeles.
