L.A. Confidentiality: David Robert Mitchell Blackmails Andrew Garfield into “Under The Silver Lake”

American indie helmer David Robert Mitchell (profiled ) appears to be dropping one Cali set project for another. With the coming-of-ager and long gestating Ella Walks the Beach not gaining further traction, Deadline reports that the It Follows filmmaker has potentially landed Andrew Garfield (99 Homes protag) for his third feature film set to begin lensing this summer. Described as a modern noir crime thriller set in Los Angeles, Under The Silver Lake will be produced by vets Michael De Luca, Chris Bender, Jake Weiner and Adele Romanski (who will be three for three with Mitchell).

Gist: Written by Mitchell, we don’t have much to go on expect that this will continue in a long standing tradition of having Los Angeles be the backdrop to criminality.

Worth Noting: The Myth of the American Sleepover and It Follows were both featured in Cannes. Could this be on target for a possible showing in 2017’s prestigious main comp section?

Do We Care?: Not unlike what has happened to the career of Jeremy Saulnier, both domestically and internationally, It Follows played like gangbusters and has made David Robert Mitchell part of the indie film elite. What we do know is that stylistically, we could be in for a treat.
