Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2013: #4. Roy Andersson’s A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence

A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence

Director/Writer: Roy Andersson
Producer(s): Pernilla Sandström
U.S. Distributor: Rights Available
Cast: Nisse Vestblom, Holger Andersson

I huge fan of 2000’s Songs from the Second Floor, we totally dig this filmmaker who started way too late in life. We loved parts of 2007’s You, the Living and apparently this shot on the Red camera is the final part of a trilogy that Andersson mentions will be “enormous, deep and fantastic, humorous and tragic, philosophical, Dostoyevsky film.”

Gist: This focuses on two central characters: one is a traveling salesman and the other is slightly mentally retarded. It is the vendor who tells his friend about why society is what it is…

Release Date: Being labeled by some as a 2014 release, I’m thinking we might find this at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
