Untitled Alice Winocour Project

During various stages of press for the release of her latest film Proxima in 2020, France’s Alice Winocour dropped hints of a new project to be shoot in Paris with an American actress in either September or October of 2020 which had been delayed due to the pandemic. No details were released before or after these revelations, but seeing as her first three features were produced through Dharamsala one could assume Winocour already has the coin lined up. After a trio of short films, Winocour’s 2012 debut Augustine premiered in Critics’ Week at Cannes. 2015 was a major year for the director, as her sophomore film Disorder (which is still set for an English language remake, at one point to be helmed by James Mangold) premiered in Un Certain Regard at Cannes and she wrote Mustang, the debut of Deniz Gamze Erguven, which premiered at the same festival in Directors’ Fortnight and went on to snag an Oscar nod for Best Foreign Language Film. In 2019, Winocour’s third film Proxima, starring Eva Green, competed in TIFF’s Platform program.

Gist: Winocour divulged her next project is about a female character (played by an unnamed American actress) in Paris at night…

Release Date/Prediction: Considering Winocour was forced to delay her planned autumn 2020 shoot and no news has been released of a new production date, for Winocour’s fourth to break into ’21 it’ll need to begin lensing within the first quarter of the year for a drop at Venice or again at TIFF.
