Appearance Act: Monaghan, Chandler & Lane Surround “Sidney Hall”

Published on

Revealing that the project was chased at the script stage by Fox Searchlight and Amazon, you’ll want to keep tabs on this project as Variety reports that Michelle Monaghan, Kyle Chandler and Nathan Lane have been cast in supporting player roles alongside the already cast / “ageless’ pairing of Logan Lerman and Elle Fanning in Shawn Christensen’s soon to be lensed Sidney Hall. The trade detailed how Lerman (he’ll be exex producing as well) edged out the comp with looks that convincingly trace a twelve year, three separate period span.

Gist: Sidney Hall (Lerman) is a tormented novelist whose wild success at a young age led to a mental breakdown, reminisces about his life, while an old acquaintance attempts to solve the mystery behind his disappearance. He engages in a game of cat and mouse with a corrupt detective after he’s told his dead wife of five years might still be alive. He uncovers the existence of a secret organization responsible for faking her death but suffers the consequences of that knowledge.

Worth Noting: Christensen recently starred in, and wrote the short, Cul-De-Sac.

Do We Care?: What we see as an encouraging sign is that the production have already garnered significant interest from distributors and have chosen to let the project speak for itself in what would be a bidding war after a major film fest premiere.
