No Cutoff: Reichardt & Michelle Williams Continue Creative Collab in 2015

Published on

While a whole bunch of folk were being distracted by the buzz at Sundance, a tent was pitched somewhere on the West Coast by one of American indie’s most distinct filmmaker voices. No deets were made available on what type of Americana Kelly Reichardt plans to visit on her sixth feature film, but Variety reports that Michelle Williams has joined forces once again (marks their third collaboration) on the currently being filmed untitled drama. While the article does not confirm it, we expect filmscience producers Anish Savjani and Vincent Savino to be on board and we won’t be surprised if this is readied for a release at the same time as Todd Haynes’ Carol goes into circulation – with fall film festival circuit of Telluride, Venice and/or TIFF looking highly probable.

Gist: No plot details have been revealed yet and nor has the location or supporting cast been confirmed, but we except the drama to fall within the same budget as her last two films: Meek’s Cutoff and Night Moves.

Worth Noting: Reichardt’s debut film is being crowdsourced for re-release. Check out the Kickstarter campaign for 1994’s River of Grass.

Do We Care?: We cared more for their 2nd collaboration, but would love to see something more intimate along the lines of the Un Certain Regard (Cannes 2008) selected Wendy and Lucy.
