2013 Sundance Film Festival Predictions: Richard Linklater’s Before Midnight

Published on

He outfitted the festival with his debut film Slacker (’91 Sundance), and a pair of films nearly a decade later (Waking Life and Tape) and while we imagine WB might be hesitant to let the cat out of the bag early, but Richard Linklater’s Before Midnight does come across as the perfect fit for the fest – and it helps that not only the filmmaker but stars/co-writers Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy are chummy with the lieu (Delpy’s sequel 2 Days in New York was shown there earlier in the year.

Gist: Beautiful Greece to revisit the lives of Celine and Jesse nine years after Jesse was about to miss his flight (Before Sunset).

Production Co./Producers: Linklater’s Detour Filmproduction, Christos V. Konstantakopoulos and Sara Woodhatch of Faliro House and Jacob Pechenik of Venture 4TH, together with Martin Shafer and Liz Glotzer of Castle Rock Entertainment.

Prediction: Premieres Section and certainly a Berlin Film Festival berth as well (where Before Sunset was shown).

U.S. Distributor: Warner Bros.
