2017 Sundance Film Festival Predictions: Patrick Brice’s Creep 2

We had an inkling that Patrick Brice would shore up at Sundance back in 2015, but we hadn’t the faintest idea that The Overnight would be the huge break-out smash knee-slapper audience favorite that it was. Interestingly, his menage a quatre comedy would precede the theatrical release of the directorial outing, that in a cosmically oddball way became Brice’s raison d’etre. When co-creator Mark Duplass announced that there was a lot more to be extracted from the Craigslist ad narrative that was Creep, with Plus One being mentioned as his next project, we didn’t know how soon we’d encounter a second instalment. With production having taken place this August, if jettisoned into shape with the same micro-budget appeal, Creep 2 starring Duplass and Desiree Akhavan could have an early 2017 playdate.

Gist: Co-written by Mark Duplass and Brice, we’ll be seeing Duplass reprises the role in the original and meets a character played by Desiree Akhavan.

Production Co./Producers: Carolyn Craddock.

Prediction: Park City at Midnight would be the only space for this one. SXSW would of course receive the second instalment as well.

U.S. Distributor: Rights Available. TBD (domestic). ICM and Submarine (international)
