According to the sixteen critics on our panel, Abdellatif Kechiche’s Blue is the Warmest Colour (which is already being considered to be the filmmaker’s masterwork) was an instant, almost across the board unanimous top film of the 2013 edition. Garnering four perfect 5-star scores and several 4.5’s (for a total average of 4.3), our critics grid matches those of Screen Daily and Le Film Francais. Tied for second place we have early fest favorite The Past and the Coen Bros.’ Inside Llewyn Davis, while late in fest entry Only Lovers Left Alive and A Touch of Sin appear to be a cut above among a handful of critics. Titles also being championed by select members of our panel include: Venus in Fur, La Grande Bellezza, Behind the Candelabra, Like Father, Like Son and James Gray’s The Immigrant is receiving almost perfect scores from our French critics.
