After premiering at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival and completing its long film festival run, Sofia Bohdanowicz‘s Measures for a Funeral is now launching its domestic theatrical release this November and we’ve got the exclusive first look at the trailer via the folks at Vortex Media. Check out the upcoming theater play dates.
Deragh Campbell (who also co-wrote) takes on the role of a young academic who pursues acclaimed early 20th-century Canadian violinist Kathleen Parlow while escaping her failed musician mother’s shadow. Of course, for those already in the know, this is Bohdanowicz’s latest instalment in the story of Audrey Benac. Navigating art, legacy, and loss across a total of four films (Veslemøy’s Song, MS Slavic 7, Point and Line to Plane), Benac investigates a violinist’s recordings, uncovers her great-grandmother’s letters, and processes a friend’s death, navigating beauty, bureaucracy, familial pressure, and grief.
