Formerly going by the title of “Set Me Free,” or in French Délivrez-moi!, the Dardenne Bros.’ latest, which is being readied for the Croisette is now going by the symbolic title of The Kid With a Bike or once again in French, Le Gamin au vélo. We also have a more complete synopsis for you below.

Gist: Sick of waiting for a father (Jérémie Renier) who has placed him in a children’s home after promising to come back for him, 11-year-old Cyril runs away and returns to the apartment where they lived together. He knocks at the door – no answer. Pursued by youth workers from the home, Cyril seeks refuge in a medical office located on the ground floor. Unable to escape his pursuers, he rushes into the arms of a young woman (Cecile de France) sitting in the waiting room…

Worth Noting: The Dardennes obviously have a thing for modes of transportation on two wheels — La promesse (1996) and L’Enfant (2005) both included this motorbikes.

Do We Care?: We have yet to know the identity of the lead actor – we imagine they selected a non-actor once again. We’ll of course be thinking of the young Renier circa La promesse when we see the film next May.
