Day 4: Live from Cannes: Buyers Remorse in ‘Better Things’

Teenagers like to experiment. Drugs happens to be one of the items at the top of that list. Duane Hopkins‘ directorial debut shows what occurs when drugs take a hold of a person, evokes the overbearing guilt that is associated with feeling responsible for someones death and does it under a microscope that might come in shades of blue, gray and depressing – but is all the more unsettling. Part of a Brit invasion at this year’s Cannes, Hopkins was on hand to present Better Things at the Espace Miramar. [Note: Full review coming soon].

Prior to the feature length film, a rare short film short film from Paraguay was show (Ahendu nde sapukai (I Hear
Your Scream
). The 12 minute short gave Pablo Lamar a reason to come to Cannes.
