Magnet Locates ‘Vanishing on 7th Street’ and Sets February Release

There’s no question as to which section Magnolia Pictures’ Tom Quinn was checking out during TIFF last month. Fresh from a world preem in the Midnight Madness section in Toronto last month, Magnet Releasing have grabbed the rights to Brad Anderson’s Vanishing on 7th Street and are setting it up for a February release. Even though I didn’t consider the film coverage worthy at TIFF and while I prefer Paul Thomas and Wes’ work, I consider myself an Anderson fan enough to want to check this out on home vid – Screen Daily called the pic a “subtler, more stimulating variation on the traditional horror/zombie/apocalypse film.”

A mysterious, seemingly global blackout yields countless populations to simply vanish, leaving only their clothes and possessions behind. A small handful of survivors band together in a dimly-lit tavern on 7th Street, struggling to combat the apocalyptic horror. Realizing they may in fact be the last people on earth, the darkness hones in on them alone.
