Marsh Trades ‘Dream’ World for Documentary Format

Now that James Marsh’s career year (a 13-month span of accolades, festival kudos and trophy-ware including yesterday’s Oscar) is over and done with, the helmer can focus on getting crafting what would be an original project. Returning to the format that brought him all that glory, Marsh will follow up the recently completed Nineteen Eighty with the temporarily titled Dream Diaries.

Returning to the format that brought him all that glory, Marsh will follow up the recently completed Nineteen Eighty with the temporarily titled Dream Diaries

It is by digging through the archives once again (actually Man on Wire was a story optioned by a producer friend according to what Marsh told IONCINEMA.com in an interview) , that the filmmaker has found the basis for his next project — something having to do with one of those freaky University research projects. This one was a UC San Diego-based study on “man’s nocturnal adventures”. Wall to Wall will back the $1.4 million docu which is being developed by Film 4 and the U.K. Film Council. Production is expected for the end of the year.
