TIFF: Top 10 New Faces & Voices: #1. Tom Ford

Date:

#1. Tom Ford

Usually those that have made such a list aren’t yet part of the public domain – this isn’t the case for the number 1 spot which goes to (this has got to be a first in the history of film) a fashion designer turned filmmaker. Receiving rave reviews after stints in both Venice and TIFF, I got to admit I wasn’t overwhelmed by the picture (I had issues with the lack of plot, and some unnecessary stylistic items that are too obvious) but the overall production of A Single Man receives an A grade. I’m already looking forward to his sophomore feature – dealing with material that may not be so deeply engrained.
