2012 Sundance Predictions: Daniel Algrant’s Greetings from Tim Buckley

Which Jeff Buckley film will get out of the gate first? It’s looking like Greetings from Tim Buckley – the non-biopic directed by Daniel Algrant (People I Know) might have the Sundance advantage as it was wrapped in the late summer. Which Jeff Buckley film will get out of the gate first? It’s looking like Greetings from Tim Buckley – the non-biopic directed by Daniel Algrant (People I Know) might have the Sundance advantage as it was wrapped in the late summer. Park City’s Main Street loves the movie and music tie-ins and cinematographer Andrij Parekh (Blue Valentine and Half Nelson) brought his magic to the film.

Gist: Written by Algrant, Emma Sheanshang and David Brendel, this follows the true story of the days leading up to Jeff Buckley’s eminent 1991 performance at his father’s tribute concert in St. Ann’s Church. Through a romance with a young woman working at the concert, he comes to understand the father who abandoned him. Culminating in a cathartic performance of his father’s most famous songs, Jeff’s debut stuns the audience and launches his career as one of the greatest young musicians of his time.

Producers: John Hart, Patrick Milling Smith, Amy Nauiokas and Frederick Zollo
