2012 Sundance Predictions: Lucy Mulloy’s Una Noche

Profiled in our predictions list last year and in our "In the Pipeline" series, I guess Lucy Mulloy is several steps closer to a film festival birth - and Sundance certainly looks like great spot to showcase Una Noche. World Dramatic Competition spot would be appropriate.

2012 Sundance Predictions: Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie

A different kind of DIY model that I'm sure fest programmers appreciate, after building their presence via TV and online sketches the comedic duo of Eric Wareheim and Tim Heidecker landed a feature filmmaking gig not so contrarian to the budgets of films presented at the fest with the aptly titled, Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie. Featuring tons of the Funny or Die crew, Magnolia Pictures have pegged a release date of March 3rd and might want to feature it at the festival in the Premieres section.

2012 Sundance Predictions: Bill & Turner Ross’ Tchoupitoulas

Bill & Turner Ross' magical documentary debut 45365 premiered at the SXSW Film Festival in 2009 and for the better part of the year gained in traction and brought much deserved acclaim to the pair. I've read that another project The Muscle’ Rouse has been completed and is looking towards 2012 film fests dates, but my thinking is that Tchoupitoulas, a Cinereach Grant recipient might be a perfect candidate for New Frontier section inclusion.

2012 Sundance Predictions: Tim Kirkman’s Tan Lines

It's been a long dry spell of sorts for helmer Tim Kirkman, who presented anything since Loggerheads - a drama that was included at the Sundance film festival back in 2005. His next feature is a long shot of sorts to break the line-up - a low budget tennis comedy titled Tan Lines. Pic stars Dash Mihok, Cameron Monaghan, Kevin Sussman, Alexie Gilmore and Josh Hopkins.

2012 Sundance Predictions: Ben Lewin’s The Surrogate

I'm thinking of Bardem's perf in The Sea Inside and that there might be some huge payoffs performance wise for thesps John Hawkes (see pic above of Mark O'Brien above) and Helen Hunt in what looks to be the sort of film that Sundance embraces - a thought-provoking film item that has the ability to stir up some sort of debate.
