2020 promises to be a big year for director Giovanni Aloi, set to debut both his debut and sophomore features. His second title will be the French production La Troisième Guerre / The Third War, produced by Thierry Lounas. Aloi nabs Anthony Bajon (Best Actor in Berlin for Cedric Kahn’s 2018 The Prayer and also recently cast in Stephane Brize’s latest, For Better and For Worse), Leila Bekhti (A Prophet, 2009) and Karim Leklou (The World is Yours, 2018) in the cast. Aloi’s first solo feature Tensione Superficiale will bow in 2020 and his 2015 short “E.T.E.R.N.I.T.” won the Prix UIP Venice at the Venice Film Festival.

Gist: Written by Aloi and Dominique Baumard, The Third War concerns three Parisian soldiers assigned to Operation Sentinelle. As a period of inaction breeds paranoia, one of the soldiers spins out of control when a demonstration gets out of hand.

Release Date/Prediction: Aloi’s production wrapped in late November. We predict a return to Venice in 2020.
