Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2013: #83. John Crowley’s Closed Circuit

Date:

Closed Circuit

Director: John Crowley
Writer(s): Steven Knight
Producer(s): Tim Bevan, Chris Clark, Eric Fellner
U.S. Distributor: Focus Features
Cast: Eric Bana, Rebecca Hall, Jim Broadbent, Ciarán Hinds, Riz Ahmed

You can’t find much in terms of similarities when you compare John Crowley’s Intermission, Is Anybody There?, and by far the best on his resume Boy A. Hopefully Eastern Promises’ Steven Knight wrote a stronger screenplay than what Eric Bana and Rebecca Hall’s character are billed as, and since I’m a sucker for a good thriller, especially those that Focus Features churn out, then maybe this fourth feature film by Crowley will indeed swim, rather than sink.

Gist: Martin (Eric Bana) and Claudia (Rebecca Hall) are lawyers — and ex-lovers — who find their loyalties tested and their lives at risk when they are joined together on the defense team in a terrorism trial.

Release Date: Not sure why Focus Features skate out this date early, but this will be released theatrically on August 28th.
