Kendrick Spirit: Jeffrey Blitz Reteams With Rocket Science Thesp for “Table 19”

Date:

A project that was at one point in time set up at Fox Searchlight and had the Duplass bros. looking to direct from their own script, Jeffrey Blitz who has been attached to the project since 2011 is finally setting sail and will reteam with his Rocket Science star on Table 19. While she was mentioned back in November along potentials Steve Carell and Tina Fey, it was just announced that Anna Kendrick will indeed topline an ensemble cast comprised of Craig Robinson, Lisa Kudrow, Stephen Merchant, Tony Revolori, June Squibb, Wyatt Russell and Amanda Crew. Shooting will take place in Atlanta next week. Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps is producing.

Gist: Described as a singles-at-the-wedding pic, the ensemble comedy follows a group of strangers who meet at the “losers” table at a wedding. Told from their perspective, the story explores what marriage means to those on the sidelines.

Worth Noting: Since the release of his docu film Lucky, Blitz has been keeping busy with television work: “The Office” and “Review.”

Do We Care?: On paper sounds like a biting satire of an event we both love and loathe. If they can reignite some of that magic found in Rocket Science, this could turn out to be an amiable, perhaps narcissistic Rachel Getting Married-like indie comedy.
