2013 Sundance Film Festival Predictions: Jeff Nichols’ Mud

It’s hard to believe that it has yet to have landed a U.S premiere since its debut (see reactions here) at the Cannes Film Festival last May and seeing that North American distributors Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions haven’t shown Jeff Nichols’ Mud at Telluride, TIFF and/or NYFF, so Sundance could perhaps be in the cards seeing that Take Shelter, Nichols’ sophomore film premiered at the fest. No theatrical release date has been fixed.

Gist: This is the story of the titular character (McConaughey), a fugitive who befriends two teens in his efforts to escape the law and reunite with his lover (Witherspoon).

Production Co./Producers: Everest’s Lisa Maria Falcone, FilmNation’s Aaron Ryder and Sarah Green.

Prediction: Spotlight Section

U.S. Distributor: Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions
