2017 Sundance Film Festival Predictions: Russell Harbaugh’s Love After Love

I recall watching Russell Harbaugh‘s Rolling on the Floor Laughing (2012 edition Sundance) and feeling an air not unlike a cold  draft. This is a good thing. One of the three scribes on the celebrated micro indie drama on a set of miserable brothers in John Magary’s The Mend, Harbaugh proposes a longer version with a certain 70s American indie dramatic fare with a longer version of his short. Prior to its February shoot earlier in the year, Love After Love was brought to 2012 IFP/Film Society of Lincoln Center EMERGING VISIONS program, workshopped at the 2013 June Directors Lab (pic above is Joshua Marston on the left) and supported by the Cinereach folks. Chris O’Dowd, Andie MacDowell and Juliet Rylance topline the intimate drama.

Gist: A messy, autobiographical love story about grief, sex, and the separation of a family, this catalogues the reunions and departures of a mother and her two grown sons over the course of several years.

Production Co./Producers: Lauren Haber (The Witch), Lucas Joaquin (Complete Unknown), Michael Prall (The Strange Ones)

Prediction: U.S. Dramatic Competition.

U.S. Distributor: Rights Available. TBD (domestic). TBD (international)
