Published on

And the final film to roll out of the competition this year belongs to that of Justine Triet. She came to fiction film by way of documentary with her earlier short, one could her films deal mostly with the political front. She shifted gears into quasi fiction with actress Laetitia Dosch (they had previously worked on the 2012 short Two Ships) for Age of Panic (2013) which was selected for Cannes’ ACID program (2013). Considered part of a new wave of French filmmakers, Triet landed a trio of top talents in Virginie Efira, Vincent Lacoste, Melvil Poupaud for the Critics’ Week selected Opening film of the section In Bed With Victoria. So the French/Belgium co-production Sibyl is her third consecutive trip to Cannes, and second time out with Virginie Efira (Paul Verhoeven has also doubled up with the actress). With a supporting cast comprised of Adèle Exarchopoulos, Gaspard Ulliel, Sandra Hüller (of Toni Erdmann fame), Niels Schneider, and Paul Hamy, this is about changing mid-stream both psychologically and professionally.
