2022 Cannes: Vincent Lindon Leads Jury + Jasmine Trinca’s Marcel! Added to Special Screenings

Published on

How does one avoid the major gaffe like the unfortunate Palme d’or reveal that occurred at last year’s ceremony? You select a person who was at the scene of the accident. In what was an uncharacteristically longer than normal process of announcing the nine person jury who’ll bestow the highest honors on all the competition films, we finally know who’ll get the best box seats on the film festival circuit and it will be lead by Vincent Lindon — who had quite a memorable time at the fest last year when Titane took top honors. An actor we quite like because of his “n’a pas la langue dans sa poche” outspoken discourse, he is accompanied by actresses Deepika Padukone, Noomi Rapace and directors Asghar Farhadi, Ladj Ly, Jeff Nichols, Joachim Trier, Rebecca Hall and Jasmine Trinca — who worth noting will also be showcasing her sophomore film Marcel! (we thought it might receive a Special Screening in the Critics’ Week) which stars Alba Rohrwacher, Maayane Conti, Giovanna Ralli and tells the story of a young girl who vies for her mother’s affections with their pet dog. We’ll of course be on hand for the opening press conference.
