James Gray’s Paper Tiger was confirmed a couple of hour ago as the 20th and final feature in the Palme d’Or competition but we have a whole bunch of extra titles filling up the rest of the fest major sections with the Un Certain Regard section receiving a quartet of films. Zachary Wigon‘s third feature film Victorian Psycho (featuring Maika Monroe, Thomasin McKenzie and Jason Isaacs) will add some frights to the section, while actress turned director Judith Godrèche‘s technical debut in Mémoire de fille will get the media attention for a tale about Annie Ernaux – who is invited to a book signing. On her way, she is overcome by a feeling of dizziness and is plunged back into the memory of the summer of 1958, the summer of her first night with a man. We thought Greek filmmaker Konstantina Kotzamani would shore up on the Croisette – and its finally confirmed that Titanic Ocean is getting this great slot, while veteran film person Laetitia Masson gets to close the section with Ulysse.
As promised the Cannes Premiere section was half complete – it now includes the latest by Christophe Honoré in Mariage au Goût d’Orange – a true rush to the finish line project with the youthful Vincent Lacoste, Paul Kircher, Adèle Exarchopoulos and Nadia Tereszkiewicz populating the film. Maria Martinez Bayona also has quite the ensemble for her debut The End of It which features Rebecca Hall, Noomi Rapace, Gael Garcia Bernal, Beanie Feldstein and Susan Wokoma. Finally, we are curious about Le Triangle d’Or by Hélène Rosselet-Ruiz which rushed towards the finish line as well for a Special Screenings status. Here are the add-ons:
