Attention to Detail: Pinot Noir & sneakers sales take off!

Date:

Apparently, it’s not only the Halloween industry that benefits from the product placement capabilities of the silver screen. Hordes of amateur folk have made their way to the Californian wine valley – inspired by Alexander Payne’s Sideways, the current en vogue travel destination sees organized tours making the rounds around many of the film’s locations – including the famed restaurant the Hitching Post. But while sales of Pinot Noir have shot through the roof, there is an even more interesting cult reaction going on. After the Kill Bill franchise with the head-to-toe yellow attire, it appears that a make-it-your-own-shoe phenomenon has transpired. A major foot fetish has been created thanks to the quirky Bill Murray character and Wes Anderson’s intricately detailed The Life Aquatic of Steve Zissou. In it, Murray’s Zissou sports his very own modeled shoe – the “Adidas Zissou”, which has prompted thousands of fans to create their very own shoes modeled after the famed feet. Over at H list you can create your own pair, or you can find them easily on ebay.
