Double Threat Bigelow & Boal Join ‘Triple Frontier’

Date:

Let’s just say they ain’t trading coffee beans at this trading post. Almost guaranteed to be among the Oscar shortlist for their set in the Iraq, edge-of-your-seat thriller, the pairing of director Kathryn Bigelow and writer Mark Boal will now go into dense, snake infested back country – a very particular spot on the globe.

Variety reports that Bigelow will follow up The Hurt Locker with, Triple Frontier – a tale set in the notorious border zone between Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil where the Igazu and Parana rivers converge — making “la triple frontera” difficult to monitor and a haven for organized crime.

Those that are monitoring this area are probably one of the high ranking intelligence branches in the U.S. I imagine Paramount Pictures, who are looking to set up shop next year, will allow for Boal to immerse himself in the arms trades and contraband culture to get a detailed perspective on this prime location.

Charles Roven, Alex Gartner and Steve Alexander producing through their Atlas Entertainment banner. Boal and Bigelow, who will both exec produce, sold the original idea together. Here is a quick geography lesson below.

You folks down for Bigelow’s next? Do you think The Hurt Locker will be among the 10 Oscar noms for Best Picture this year?
