Double Threat Bigelow & Boal Join ‘Triple Frontier’

Almost guaranteed to be among the Oscar shortlist for their set in the Iraq, edge-of-your-seat thriller, the pairing of director Kathryn Bigelow and writer Mark Boal will now go into dense, snake infested back country – a very particular spot on the globe.

Variety reports that Bigelow will follow up The Hurt Locker with, Triple Frontier – a tale set in the notorious border zone between Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil where the Igazu and Parana rivers converge — making “la triple frontera” difficult to monitor and a haven for organized crime.

Those that are monitoring this area are probably one of the high ranking intelligence branches in the U.S. I imagine Paramount Pictures, who are looking to set up shop next year, will allow for Boal to immerse himself in the arms trades and contraband culture to get a detailed perspective on this prime location.
