Gondry factory: Father and son tandem to work with Daniel Clowes

Date:

Peter from /film.com got a great scope on Michel Gondry’s next project directly from the Frenchman himself – and it is not Master of Space and Time nor the untitled Michel Gondry Debbie Harry
biopic
. According to  the site, toon guru Daniel Clowes will be writing the project developed by the Gondry family that comes across like Metropolis. Paul Gondry (the kid shown in the White Stripes video below) is now in his teens and let’s just say that the son is very much a part of his father’s world. Kudos to the exemplary relationship!

Written by Daniel Clowes and based on an idea by Paul and Michel Gondry, Migel Munya is an animated tale about a dictator who runs a crazy world where hair is the source of energy. The people there are forced to create art, and if the art is too good they are executed. So the dictator there doesn’t want anyone to be better than him so he kills the inmates who make good art. They try to make rubbish art but sometimes the worse it is for them, the better it is for the dictator.

Gondry will have two features released in 08 – starting with Be Kind Rewind and Tôkyô!.
