Live from Fantasia: The Signal

Date:

The Signal (USA, 2007)
Director: David Bruckner, Dan Bush, Jacob Gentry

Wait… receiving subliminal transmission… abstract colors… telling me to write review on The Signal then smash laptop and kill neighbour…

Strange frequency (origin unknown) distorts tv and phone communications turning populace into delusional killing machines. Story centers around love triangle of jilted hubby, emo boytoy and horrible-taste-in-music girl who struggle against it’s homicidal effects…

Directed by no less than three filmmakers, The Signal is at its best when constructing some of the funniest scenes of violence I've seen in a while (about 25% of the film), and it's worst when trying to wring emotions from it's central love theme out of b-grade actors (75% of the film). Decent but missable. Now if you’ll excuse me, I think I’ll drop in on my neighbour…
