Yet another production benefiting from NYC’s great tax credit, Variety reports that Love and Other Impossible Pursuits is back on track seducing veteran actress Natalie Portman for the lead role. Blessings do occur in the film industry, especially considering that the project was originally set to begin lensing in the summer of 07’ with Jennifer Lopez in the lead. Don Roos who last directed Happy Endings, will direct from his own script in Manhattan on Nov. 10.

The adaptation of an Ayelet Waldman novel revolves around a young woman (Portman) who finds the key to recovering her marriage in her relationship with her precocious stepson. Unknowns Scott Cohen and Charlie Tahan are also coming on board to complete the family picture.

Portman’s handsomecharlie films will be executive produce.
