Pedro & Penelope have sights on…?

Judging from what I’ve seen off screen, its apparent that Volver was the sort of professional and amicable experience that will produce a dozen more collaborations. Like the 40 or 50 classic director/actor relationships that come to mind, the Pedro/Penelope association seems to be one of the better partnerships. Variety reports that the long gestating project will probably be the next film to lense.

La piel que habito aka (Tarantula) is based on the 1995 French novel “Mygale” by Thierry Jonquet, this futuristic novel tells the story of a man’s revenge driven attack on his daughter’s rapist. A plastic surgeon, he confronts him and performs a sex change operation on him. Cruz will play the plastic surgeon’s daughter. The pic version would retain just one scene from the novel. The once attached Antonio Banderas would have played the part of the rapist but this role is currently out to actors.

Pedro warned that the film is immensely tough and complicated, targeted at select audiences, the kind of film that’s discomforting and doesn’t tend to win many awards.
