If Criterion is thinking of releasing the Maysles Brothers’ 1975 documentary on Blu-Ray then I’d try and come out with a release soon after HBO preems this version. This uses the documentary film as a framework and further exploration into the Beales (portrayed here by Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange) commences by taking several steps back examining the “riches” portions of the riches-to-rags denouement. The film is scheduled for Saturday April 18th at 8:00p.m.

Eric Lavallée is the founder, CEO, editor-in-chief, film journalist, and critic at IONCINEMA.com, established in 2000. He is a Golden Globes Voter, member of the ICS (International Cinephile Society) and AQCC (Association québécoise des critiques de cinéma).
