Rebecca Hall is Neighborly in ‘Everything Must Go’

Date:

What happens when you become box office poison? You make adjustments to the career path and hope that an indie role in a dark comedy that was a featured as a 2008 Black List does the trick. That’s what Will Ferrell did late last year, by signing up for Dan Rush’s Everything Must Go – which was supposed to receive a green light early this year, but is obviously still in the casting stages. Today’s add-on in Rebecca Hall points to a probable Spring start date.

Based on a Raymond Carver short story, the script centers on a relapsed alcoholic portrayed by Ferrell who loses his job and his wife and decides to live on his front lawn while selling all of his belongings. Hall will star as a newcomer to the neighborhood who forges a special bond with Ferrell’s character.

Hall first came to my attention in a pair of films she played in with Scarlett Johansson (The Prestige followed by Vicky Cristina Barcelona), but I’m thinking that her role in Ben Affleck’s The Town (she plays the love interest once again – see below) is where she’ll add a first Oscr nomination on her résumé.
