Spicey Elena Anaya Added to Almodovar’s La Piel Que Habito

Date:

Move over Penelope. It’s now Spanish actress Elena Anaya‘s time to shine. The beautiful Spaniard who got her big break alongside Paz Vega in Julio Medem’s Sex and Lucia will actually be re-teaming with Pedro Almodovar on La piel que habito – which is set to begin filming in August and will obviously be ready for a huge premiere at Cannes next year. The actress once had a supporting role in Pedro’s Talk to Her – (my goldfish memory isn’t helping me remember the role at the present time) will be joined by Marisa Paredes – who is working with the legend filmmaker for a sixth time.

Anaya will appear alongside Antonio Banderas in a project that will be unlike any we’ve seen from Pedro’s previous work. I was anticipating the role to be redrawn with the exit of Penelope Cruz, but Pedro appears to be going for the same demo. This is based on the French novel by French writer Thierry Jonquet, formerly known as “Tarantula”, this tells the story of a man’s revenge driven attack on his daughter’s rapist. A plastic surgeon, he confronts him and performs a sex change operation on him.

We should next see Anaya stateside in Room in Rome – which IFC nabbed before it preemed in Spain last March. Here’s the steamy trailer.
