TIFF 2010 Buyer’s Club: #9. Mike Mills’ Beginners

If we do the math: you’ve got cancer, plus senior coming out of the closest from the director who gave us Thumbsucker. If this dramedy packs an emotional wallop and McGregor brews up a magnifying performance, we could have something that gets mentioned during awards.

#9. Beginners

The GistEwan McGregor plays a young man rocked by two announcements from his elderly father (Christopher Plummer)…one, that he has terminal cancer, and two, that he’s coming out of the closet. Also stars: Melanie Laurent and Goran Visnjic.
