Exactly one vote behind the Number 1 spot on the 2007 BlackList, Clooney who we like best in political satires/dramas/thrillers has assembled an incredible ensemble cast here -- top players that will make the behind the scenes banter helluva fun time - think Wag the Dog with more factual bits.

It was almost one year to the day when Sean Durkin's Mary Last Seen was the short film that floored me among those that I saw in Park City (it would go onto win in the Director's Fortnight section in Cannes) and hence why I'm looking forward in seeing how the filmmaker might have expanded on the idea. For a first film Durkin works from several Sundance vets and this also includes Mary Last Seen's creepy protag in Brady Corbet (curious to see if he works from a similar role) and an actress which everyone in indie film sphere is calling the next big thing.

They've got a pretty good director in Bennett Miller and I'm liking the casting (Philip Seymour Hoffman and Jonah Hill) they did for the film and though I think I might have preferred Soderbergh's version of the film, I'm still a fan of the Lewis novel and look forward in seeing how a sports dramedy might pan out.

There's no Spielberg on this Top 100, Super 8 was left off the list and the Nick Frost and Simon Pegg penned alien comedy Paul wasn't even considered, but this comedy/alien invasion film appears to be a throwback to 80's films equipped with a zesty Brit humor that we found in his Star Wars action figure sketches appears to be an ideal feature introduction for this new helmer. Expectation levels with either increase or dip when the trailer is released.

Last year we had it in our number 20 spot, and while a full year of waiting has slightly diminished our hunger for this Hunter S. Thompson adaptation, it still has plenty of elements working for it -- great ensemble, return of a popular filmmaker, and the source material.
