Of the veteran auteurs, we have works from Christoffer Boe, Jean-Paul Civeyrac, old school High School doc filmmaker Frederik Wiseman and look for the Rolling Stones to be on hand for Stephen Kijak's Stones In Exile..

It appears that the very busy Oren Moverman will be adding one more project to his writing/directing slate, a film that originally had Stephen Frears attached to direct. Production Weekly reports that Woody Harrelson & Ben Foster may reunite with their The Messenger director on what could be an explosive commentary/crime drama.

I'm not sure where I was with my Cannes predictions (50 percent sounds about right), but I'm most glad about the predix that pan out on actual titles that I look forward in seeing - e.g. Lodge Kerrigan's French-produced next feature. I also got my predictions right on Radu Muntean's Tuesday, After Christmas and I had reported on David Verbeek's showing up in Cannes with R U There.

Cannes announced 16 films in the Main Competition today and the Un Certain Regard is perhaps complete but could fit two more titles in, but as expected, Terrence Malick's film is still in limbo. Apart from that frustrating example, there are about three to five available slots in the Main Comp and some hefty titles that are missing in action. I've compiled a list below, but worth mentioning are blatant omissions such as Julian Schnabel's Miral, Kornel Mundruczo's Frankenstein Project, Ken Loach's Route Irish and perhaps even Bruce Robinson's The Rum Diary.

Farmiga will do double duty, making her directorial debut and star in the book to film adaptation of Carolyn Briggs' memoir This Dark World. To be titled Higher Ground, production is expected to begin in June, after Farmiga completes filming in Duncan Jones' Source Code.
