2012 Cannes Film Festival Predictions: Xan Cassevetes’ Kiss of the Damned

Gist: Potentially following in the footsteps of recent vampire-themed Croisette films (2009’s Thirst, 2010’s We Are What We Are), Kiss of the Damned comes loaded with a trio of French vixens in Anna Mouglalis (Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky) and models/actresses Joséphine de La Baume and Roxane Mesquida. Kiss of the Damned centers around two beautiful French vampire sisters who have separately come to stay at a summer estate — a ‘safe house’ in Connecticut.

Prediction:  I think this there might be a family gathering of the Cassevetes on the Croisette this year. Xan Cassavetes showcased Z Channel: A Magnificent Obsession in Cannes back in 2003, and if this stands out to be auteur-like and aesthetically challenging, then it could go wither way in the Directors’ Fortnight or in the Un Certain Regard section.
