Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2011: David Gordon Green’s The Sitter

The 2008 Black List favorite from which this is based on is actually a pretty solid read and it’s got some wacky characters all the way down to trio of kids that are being babysat. Sam Rockwell who worked with DGG on Snow Angels gets teamed here with Jonah Hill whose stock went up in my books with Cyrus..and we’ll probably think even highly of the actor with the release of Moneyball in September. With an Adventures in Babysitting on crack formula, this should pay better dividends than his stoner comedy of 2008.

List Worthy Reasons…When I started making the list, I was surprised that David Gordon Green was in contention to make it on our most anticipated list — this is something you wouldn’t have read on this site prior to Pineapple Express days. Now that the filmmaker is enlarging his repertoire of projects beyond indiewood films and making projects we don’t care too much for (his other comedy, Your Highness is also receiving a release) it means we’re less willing to take less chances on his filmography than he is willing to take on what will surely be an array of 80’s influenced films. Release Date/Status?: 20th Century Fox have pegged the comedy with a July 15th wide opening.
