Top 200 Most Anticipated Foreign Films of 2023: #112. Luca Guadagnino’s An Even Bigger Splash

Date:

An Even Bigger Splash

Luca Guadagnino will gift us with the American romantic sports comedy Challengers this year and will be working on Queer and an Audrey Hepburn biopic shortly but before all this we’ll also be revisiting the tempestuous and sensuous Sicilian summer haze of his 2015 film. A Bigger Splash becomes An Even Bigger Splash this year due to an exercise that began at the Göteborg Film Festival. Guadagnino went back in the editing suite and we can expect a re-release of sorts with all the works and the hopes of some film fest circuit play. The original clocks in at 124 minutes.

Gist: While vacationing on a Sicilian island with her boyfriend (Matthias Schoenaerts), a rock star (Tilda Swinton) receives an unexpected visit from an old flame (Ralph Fiennes) and his seductive daughter (Dakota Johnson).

Release Date/Prediction: It would be fitting that this returns to the Lido for an out of competition screening.
