Jean-Marc Vallee Checks into ‘Love Hotels’

Attached to the project in a producing capacity since 06', Kate Bosworth is looking to appear in front of the camera in what would be Jean-Marc Vallee's first U.S. based film debut. The Canadian helmer known for several decade spanning, award-winning picture in C.R.A.Z.Y and his most recent effort in The Young Victoria (which receives a release this month via Apparition) will probably not tackle the Bosworth-starring Lost Girls and Love Hotels until 2011, as he is currently helming Café De Flore (a love story between a man and woman. And between a mother and her son.)

Music Box Protect ‘The Sicilian Girl’

With the Il Divo deal last year, and now the purchase Marco Amenta’s The Sicilian Girl this week, you can say that the acquisitions people over at Music Box Films (the 4 to 6 film title per year label) might have an inclination towards Italian films with a mafia-related, true story narrative. For those who've never heard of the pic (myself included), the true drama received territory releases in Italy in February and in France in May (French actor Gérard Jugnot stars in the film). It recently had an American Film Market showcase, but no noteworthy festival play dates.

First Run Features have picked up the rights to Peter Hanson’s talking heads docu about the horror stories of those of who lived to tell the tale: contemporary screenwriters who got stung in their careers as scribes and consider themselves lucky, managed to see one of their works turn into a final product and retain some shards of its former self.

HBO Lets ‘Sunshine Boy’ Pour In

No stranger for grabbing docu films to fill their cable television slate, Icelandcinemanow.com reports that HBO have grabbed Fridrik Thor Fridriksson’s documentary The Sunshine Boy for an eventual April 2nd release expanding into major cities.

Overture Sets Deal in ‘Stone’

I've sort of lost track of this project since it was first announced as a possible The Deer Hunter reunion between Robert De and Meryl Streep. A lot has changed since this first announcement. De Niro and Edward Norton remained on board but the supporting actresses were changed for Frances Conroy and Milla Jovovich. Today, John Curran's dramatic-thriller has a confirmed release next year with Overture swooping up domestic rights.
