Mia Wasikowska and Michael Fassbender are in negotiations to topline the feature which would go into production next year. If they sign up, it'll be a fun shoot with director and actors all hitting a "sweet spot" in their acting careers. Wasikowska's last and current film is with Tim Burton and Gus Van Sant. Not too shabby.
Predictions 2010 Sundance Film Festival: Agrelo, D’Arienzo, Gibney
What do docs The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters and Mad Hat Ballroom have in common? Both films received their world premiere in Park City, but not at Redford's festival but the other main street venue the hosts Slamdance. If I'm on target with my predictions, we'll be seeing the filmmakers of these docs, Seth Gordon (as a producer) and Marilyn Agrelo in Park City once again, but with Sundance credentials.
Still Punk Two Decades Later: Killer Films have The Clash Biopic in the Works
Hardcore fans of The Clash might not like the sound of this: there's a potential biopic of the band in the works. The good news is that it takes a punk attitude to make a faithful biopic of a punk band and its Christine Vachon's Killer Films who are brewing up a biopic of some kind.
Predictions 2010 Sundance Film Festival: Babluani, Fabrega and Jarecki
The Sundance selection committee headed by 1st term Festival Director John Cooper are probably butting heads, making and breaking dreams as I publish this. Official selections are less than 2 weeks away, so I figure, as I do every year, that I'll have some fun predicting what'll be watching/covering 2 months from now. If the tradition of nurturing the new generation of filmmakers and bringing back old family members from previous editions continues, most of my predictions (at least half of the 45 I'll name) should materialize.
Hadewijch: God What a Beautiful Poster
This isn't news per se, just wanted to point out the French poster for Bruno Dumont's Hadewijch - which happened to be my last film screened at TIFF, and for those who have the opportunity, I would suggest a great double bill with Jessica Hausner' Lourdes in the mix.
