Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2012: #76. Ken Loach’s Angel’s Share

Ken Loach isn't showing any signs of slowing down in his fourth decade of filmmaking, but what's noteworthy in this portion of the Palme D'Or winning English filmmaker's career is how his material, and not his trademark realism is switching up the tone. Shot in Glasgow and penned by his right-hand man Paul Laverty, Loach is taking on another comedy (2009's Looking For Eric was his first successful attempt).

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2012: #77. Matteo Garrone’s Big House

Before his inside look into modern-day crime and corruption (Gomorrah), Matteo Garrone was better known as the helmer of Euro hits The Embalmer and First Love. Hopefully this comedy slash drama will be a biting commentary rather than a Truman Show like concoction.

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2012: #78. Steve Buscemi’s Queer

An actor who I sincerely hope would devote more time behind the camera (examples Tree Lounge, Interview and one vivid Sopranos episode I have in mind prove that Buscemi has got the goods) our first and only William S. Burroughs fix for 2012 might come via Viggo Mortensen's bit of Old Bull Lee in On the Road. With a great trio of characters and Moverman's involvement, plus the fact that the novel was written in '52 but only published in 1984 adds to the fascination behind the prose of this great American Beat Generation novelist.

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2012: #79. Michael Hoffman’s Gambit

Rarely do we care for remakes, The Last Station's helmer Michael Hoffman isn't a selling point for this caper film and neither are Cameron Diaz's short shorts. The reason why this is so high up on our most anticipated list is that the screenplay is signed by the Coen Bros. Oscar-winning actor Colin Firth stars.

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2012: #80. Roger Michell’s Hyde Park on Hudson

While Roger Michell has a spotty record (The Mother and the first 8 minutes of Enduring Love are his best in the past decade) we are stoked about seeing Bill Murray toplining as FDR, it should be a blast to see his interpretation of the president during the enchantment phase. Worth noting on the tech side is the involvement of DP Lol Crawley (Better Things/Ballast).
