Benjamín Naishtat’s ‘Glaxo’ – Everything We Know So Far …

Benjamin Naishtat Glaxo

Buenos Aires born filmmaker Benjamín Naishtat has steadily become one of the premiere voices in Argentinian cinema with the entire body of his work premiering at the major film festivals. His 2014 debut Historia del miedo premiered at the 64th Berlinale, 2015’s El movimiento premiered at the Locarno, and 2018’s Rojo premiered at TIFF and San Sebastián – the same lieu where he premiered 2023’s Puan with María Alché. His cinema is political and critical of Argentina’s past, and carries a certain ambiguity favoring mood and tone over straight forward narratives. This next project (his five feature film) looks set to flirt with genre conventions only to discard them, shaping something sultry, noir-tinged and sharply biting in themes of desire and revenge. Here is everything we know so far … for Benjamín Naishtat’s Glaxo.

Naishtat would have had the chance to adapt the novel when it landed on his lap a couple of years back for what was a Brazil-Argentina co-production with production taking place (mostly in) Brazil and Argentina around October into late November of 2025.

Based on Hernán Ronsino’s novel and co-written by the author and Naishtat, in a provincial town with a Glaxo factory, four friends’ lives unravel after a retired cop and his alluring wife move in. Their arrival triggers passion and vengeance during Argentina’s transformative decades from the ’50s to ’80s.

Lali Espósito toplines, we also have Esteban Lamothe, Marcelo Subiotto, Manu Fanego, Alan Sabbagh and Esteban Bigliardi.

Re-teaming with his Rojo collabs in Cinematographer Pedro Sotero and Costume Designer Jam Monti, among the producing team we find RT Features’ Berta Marchiori and Rodrigo Teixeira. Co-producers include Rei Pictures’ Santiago Gallelli and Benjamin Domenech, Matías Roveda. Executive producers include Marília Garske and Glauco Urbim.

With production takin place late last year they’ll be aiming for a Cannes unveiling but post production could time this for Venice/Toronto festival launch instead.
