Interview: Fernando Serrano – Bisbee ’17

When we look back at the year that was in docu film offerings for 2018, Robert Greenes timeless inquiry into how the present is not that far removed form the past is deserving of all the accolades it has picked up since premiering at Sundance. Not unlike this recent docu reflections, Bisbee ’17 packs an emotional punch when you least expect it. One way into a the psyche of a town is via Fernando Serrano – who may have been “cast” in a role of a townsperson, but he displays a willingness and an awareness to connect emotionally to history. I had the chance to catch up with the film at the Los Cabos Film Festival and on their way to RIDM in Montreal, I had the chance to speak to Serrano – one member of the Bisbee ’17 team.
