Gist: Set in 1932 – the eve of the Third Reich – three children find a quiet spot in the woods and become blood brothers. From here, paradigms shift and wars rage, and the three slowly undergo a transformation from innocent children into over-committed Nazi-followers, racists and anti-semites. This has the prints of Haneke’s The White Ribbon all over it, much like Koch’s previous work has shown the austere Austrian’s influence.
Prediction: If ready, this is a pretty good candidate for the Fortnight, which is where Koch’s previous film Picco wound up. Koch has been receiving coin from the likes of the International Rome Film Festival since 2010, so it should be about done.
